Affligem

A light abbey ale from Belgium. It has a brilliant golden color and a rich head. It is produced by Affligem, a company whose history dates back to 1074. To make Affligem Blonde, brewers use only natural ingredients: light barley malt, hops, sugar, and purified water. It is bottled and canned. Affligem Blonde has been produced in Russia since 2017, and this is the only place outside Belgium where it is made.

Taste characteristics

The taste is rich, with pronounced malty notes and fruity accents. There are hints of ripe tropical fruits, a slight citrus sourness, and soft vanilla and honey notes. The aftertaste is clean, with a pleasant hop bitterness. The aroma is moderately intense and well balanced. Ripe banana tones dominate, complemented by bread notes and a light spicy trail.

Food pairings

Affligem Blonde goes well with light dishes. It is ideal with fish, white poultry, veal, and various cold appetizers. It can be used as an aperitif.
