Pilsners and lagers account for more than 70% of the world's beer output. These are the most popular categories on the brewing market. They are made by bottom fermentation and are similar in taste and appearance, but also have some differences.
It is important to know that pilsner is a kind of lager beer. That is why these drinks have similar properties. Lager and pilsner are clear and golden in color (yellow to amber), but the taste may differ depending on the country in which they are produced. For example, the German and Czech pilsner varieties have a pronounced hoppy bitterness, while the Belgian and Dutch brands are characterized by a sweetish flavor. Lagers, on the other hand, have a weak hop flavor, so they go well with salty snacks and quench one's thirst.
